This is a designated landscape of special importance, covering 75 sq km, straddling the boundary of Cumbria and Lancashire. The Limestone geology and coastal aspect of the area sustains a complex mosaic of habitats. There are many semi-natural ancient woodlands, wildflower-rich limestone grasslands, protected limestone pavements, coastal salt-marshes, rare butterflies and many other diverse habitats.

The centre which is open seven days a week throughout the summer offers
a comprehensive range of information regarding the Fell and the Forest
of Bowland.
The centre provides displays and information about Beacon Fell Country Park and the Forest of Bowland Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Open 7 days a week throughout the Summer months the café facility serves a variety of beverages, hot and cold food, light snacks, all day breakfasts, sweets and ice creams.

this site. From short, gentle rambles to long distance treks, you can
download a whole range of walks that allow you to explore the county.
